THE RIVERS OF HERITAGE SERIES
An Overnight Journey Through Bangkok’s Chinese Heritage
Siri Sala Private Thai Villa presents The River Heritage Series,
an intimate two-day cultural experience exploring the influence of Chinese migration
on Bangkok’s history, rituals, and social traditions.
Taking place on the evenings of 5–6 June 2026, the program marks a new chapter
for Siri Sala following its recent affiliation with Small Luxury Hotels of the World
and the opening of the riverside villa for individual room stays.
Set along the quiet canals of Bangkok Noi, the experience begins with check-in at Siri Sala
before a one hour guided Chinese Heritage River Tour along the Chao Phraya.
Guests will visit the historic Chow Sue Kong Shrine,
followed by a walk through the old riverside community of Talat Noi.
Back at the villa, the evening continues with sunset drinks
and a Mahjong 101 introduction class in collaboration with Mahjong Palace NYC.
Founder Subhas Kandasamy will personally host the mahjong social
— marking the collective’s first appearance in Thailand.
The stay concludes the next morning with breakfast and a Thai herbal inhaler workshop,
highlighting another everyday tradition influenced by Chinese culture in Thailand.
For those who would like to join only for dinner and mahjong,
there is a special 'Evening Only' option you can book also.
Whether you stay the night or join for just the evening, we wish you good luck — may the tiles fall your way!

About Mahjong Palace NYC
Founded in NYC in September 2024, Mahjong Palace (MJP) is a social mahjong club that reimagines the mahjong experience. Featured in The Financial Times and The New York Times, they host engaging teaching and playing sessions at thoughtfully selected venues - from art galleries and cultural spaces to restaurants and members-only clubs. This series at Siri Sala is their debut in Thailand.
In a world increasingly focused on individual pursuits, Mahjong Palace is committed to rekindling a spirit of community.
The goal is to create an environment where people can meet - free from apps or screens - and embrace genuine human interaction again.
The evenings are designed to cater to mahjong players of all levels. Perfect for absolute beginners, teaching tables are led by experienced teachers. New players are welcome and will leave feeling confident with the rules and structure of the game. No money is involved - all play is for fun!
